The Radio Station
In early September 2003, Clive Welsh called his friend who was operating Radio Emmanuel San Pedro Town in Ambergris Caye, to see how he was doing with challenges before him. To his surprise, his was told by his friend that he was no longer able to operate the radio station due to personal reasons. Clive asked if he would give him a week to pray and see what the Lord would have him to do, knowing first hand the powerful ministry Christian Radio has had in his personal life. Clive, A missionary to his own country, saw the need for expository and relevant teaching of God's word, in the nation of Belize. While praying for this opened door of opportunity, He contacted several friends in the U.S. who also shared a passion for Christian radio. And with in a few weeks He became the Director of What is now Lighthouse Christian Radio.
With the Radio Station licensed for the island of Ambergris Caye, Clive felt the name Light house Christian Radio Would be significant because of the role a lighthouse plays to those lost at sea by providing: Direction, Security and Hope as they maneuver through life storm's and rough seas.

The Light of Christ is what Clive saw as a great need in Ambergris Caye where many from all over the world come seeking paradise in its warm climate, 2nd largest barrier reef, and many activities. Yet the darkens of sin is prevalent for both residents and visitors, who seeks to fill the emptiness with the vices of the world.
Lighthouse Christian Radio FM101.3 began broadcasting on July 16, 2004. from 8am to 8pm. and gradually expanded to 24 hour broadcasting. its format is bible teaching programs, a variety of Christian music; contemporary, praise and worship, reggae, Spanish and Caribbean. A daily news cast of Local, Nation, International, Mexico and Central America news, along with daily devotional thought, and weather forecast. Spanish programming, Bible teaching, and music are heard primarily in the late Evenings and early mornings and scattered through out the day. We have earn the trust of residence of ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker over the years of broadcasting and consider an honor privilege to be allowed in the hearts and homes of our listeners from the various people groups that make up the population of our beautiful Cayes!
The Director - Clive Welsh

Clive Welsh was born in Belize City, Belize and moved to Los Angeles, California at an early age. Upon graduating from High School, he attended Los Angeles Junior College where he received an Associates of Arts degree in Radio/ Television/ Film. Television was really his passion but he became disillusioned by it and a greater passion developed when he understood what being a follower of Christ meant after becoming born-again while attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. His availability to the Lord led him to announcing the ‘live' broadcast of the Bible Studies from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa with Pastor Chuck Smith for many years. Upon returning to Belize in the mid-nineties as a missionary to his birth country, Clive noticed the powerful influence of Christian Radio in equipping believer for the work of the ministry in Belize and sensed that he would be directly involved someday. That day arrived in September 2003 when Radio Emmanuel, was ‘dropped into his lap' and he became Director/General Manager.

He is currently country Director of He Intends Victory (Christian Ministry to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS). He serves as president of the San Pedro Association of Justice of the Peace & commissioner of the Supreme Court and member of the Evangelical Alliance of San Pedro. But his main passion is one-on-one mentoring, Discipling and counselling especially fatherless and troubled teens.
